VP Binay to Grace 2010 Catandungan Festival

Vice President Jejomar Binay has been invited as the main guest of this year’s Catandungan Festival on Oct. 18-24 to be held in celebration of the province’s 65th foundation anniversary.

Vice Governor Jose J. Teves, Jr., who was named by Gov. Joseph C. Cua as chairman of the steering committee, said the tentative schedule of the festival activities has been set in consultation with the committee members and stakeholders in a meeting held the other Monday.



Here is the proposed festival schedule:

October 18-20 - Majestic Surfvivor Clinic and Exhibition at Puraran, Baras:
  • Day 1 - Opening program to start with a Mass at 3 P.M. followed by a Beer Plaza. 
  • Day 2 - Consists of a surfing clinic, beach volleyball and Frisbee competition, Bikini Open and Ginebra Bluefest.
  • Day 3 - The awarding ceremonies and party is on.
October 21 - Biodiversity Meeting (BIOME 2010):
  • Experts and stakeholders discuss Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Innovations, Political Ecology and Social Representations on Nature Conservation.
October 21 – Binbining Catandungan beauty pageant.

October 22 - Concelebrated Mass (Virac Cathedral) at 7 AM; DLC Exhibition ( Virac Fountain) at 8 AM; Opening Program (Virac Fountain) with VP Binay as guest of honor at 10 AM; Opening of OTOP Christmas Bazaar (JMA Memorial Park) at 11 AM; Civil Military Parade at 1 PM; Festival of Festivals Showdown Streetdancing (Virac Fountain) at 2 PM; and, Kundiman Fiesta (Plaza Rizal) at 7 PM.

October 23 – 2nd Catandungan Isla Karera and Alpha Phi Omega 3rd 10K Marathon A Run for Peace, both at 6 AM; Skills Olympics (Iron Chef "Bicolano Ini") at 8 AM; Pauragan academic contests at 1 PM; Basketball Exhibition All-Stars vs. Catanduanes (Virac Sports Complex) at 4 PM; Premium B-Meg Bingo Bonanza (Virac Fountain) at 6 PM; and, San Miguel Beer Night/Beer Plaza (Virac Fountain) at 8 PM.

October 24 – Thanksgiving Mass (Virac Cathedral) at 7 AM; Procession of Our Lady of La Naval (Virac Cathedral to Capitol Lobby) at 8 AM; Awarding Ceremonies (Capitol grounds) at 10 A.M.; and, Paolo Santos Acoustic Concert (UP Catandungan), 7 PM.
