STATEN ISLAND, NY—Two top officials of the province of Catanduanes flew to New York to attend the 16th Anniversary and 7th grand reunion of the Catanduanes International Association (CIA).

The two are three-term Representative Joseph A. Santiago and Governor Joseph Cua.
The event which was attended by over 200 Catandunganons and guests from around the US and Canada was held last August 22 at Hilton Garden Inn in this borough of New York City.
The two officials conveyed the greetings of the people of Catanduanes and reported on the latest developments and projects they had introduced and brought to the province.Rep. Santiago, who is now on his third and last term as congressman, reported among other accomplishments, the completion of the circumferential road around his province.
Our farmers can now bring their produce to the market swiftly and easily unlike before,” said Santiago. The congressman, who chairs the Committee on Information and Communications Technology in Philippine Congress, also reported on the annual funding to the Catanduanes Provincial Hospital that he was able to secure.
“Gov. Cua reported about his program for Catanduanes which he summed up through an acronym J.O.S.E.P.H. According to him, the letters stand for jobs creation, organizational efficiency and integrity, social services, environmental protection, power development and health care services.
In her report to the group, CIA president Cely Deauna discussed about the successful medical mission of their group to Catanduanes last year. A video presentation of the mission was played.
Among the CIA movers in addition to Deauna are Lydia Mendez, Medy S. Taeza, Atty. Manny and Beth Quintal, Buddy Deauna, Carina Klugewicz, Evelyn Scott.
